NEUROSCIENCE RESEARCH POSITIONS OPEN

Positions are now open for scientists at different levels of training to conduct studies on neuronal signal transduction. This multidisciplinary research incorporates biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, trangenics, and animal behavior to identify and characterize novel signal transduction pathways in the brain and determine their biological function.

Research will be conducted within state-of-the art premier research institutions. The studies involve identification of protein phosphorylation events by both neuroproteomics and candidate approaches, protein purification, in vitro protein phosphorylation, phosphorylation site identification by mass spectrometry, phosphorylation state-specific antibody generation, acute brain slice pharmacological modulation of signaling cascades, field and whole cell physiology, histological and neuromorphological analysis by twophoton laser-scanning confocal microscopy, and analysis of animal behavior using novel conditional transgenic models and virus-mediated in vivo expression systems.

Students and postdoctoral trainees will participate in large intradepartmental research programs on projects leading to publications. Students working toward their training certification, Master’s degree, and Ph.D., and postdoctoral trainees are encouraged to apply. These positions are part of an international collaboration between the University of Aveiro and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and therefore only candidates prepared to travel and spend extended periods in the USA will be considered. Some preference will be given to individuals receiving support from their institution.

Competitive salaries and visa processing are available. Send all inquiries and applications including curriculum vitae and 3 letters of reference to:
